Runa McNamara B.A.Hons.

Director Hair, Beauty, Wellness and Aesthetics
Runa is the Director of Hair, Beauty, Wellness and Aesthetic qualifications. Prior to joining Qualifi, Runa led on the International business development for the specialist Awarding Organisation VTCT and iTEC, for 2300 centres across 50 countries.

Runa has a degree in Professional and Vocational Education and a Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management combined with qualifications and industry experience in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Sports Therapy, Stress Management, Holistic and Complementary Therapies.

Runa has worked in 5 Further Education Colleges and progressed from lecturing, through curriculum management to senior management and directorate. Runa led the national development of qualifications and curriculum in Beauty Therapy for Scotland, Botswana and India. Runa was also a HMIe Associate Assessor for hairdressing, beauty and complementary therapies and quality and curriculum.

Runa’s experience of UK and International vocational education and training means that she can provide the best possible support and advice to centres and the teams that she works with. Runa has over 25 years’ experience of working with leading awarding organisations as an Examiner, External Verifier, Regional EV, Technical Expert, National Business Development Manager and International Commercial Director.

Laura Holdstock

Head of Quality for Hair, Beauty, Wellness and Aesthetics

Laura is the Head of Quality for the Hair, Beauty, Wellness and Aesthetics qualifications. Prior to joining Qualifi, Laura worked with VTCT for 12 years in a variety of different roles, including Principal Examiner for VRQ’s, External Quality Assurer within the Quality Team, and has been involved in writing qualifications for the Beauty, Complementary Therapies and Aesthetics industries ranging from Entry 3 to Level 7. Her role as Centre Training Manager involved supporting centres, developing CPD for the EQAs and examiners, and communicating between departments. She was also a Judge for Worldskills UK, judging intermediate and advanced beauty therapy, aromatherapy and reflexology.

Laura has worked in both Further Education and Private Colleges, as a lecturer and assessor, developing her role to Lead IQA and Team Leader.

Laura has a degree in teaching, which combined with qualifications and over 30 years industry experience in Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Complementary Therapies and Education and Training Qualifications mean that she is highly skilled and experienced to assure the quality of processes for Qualifi.

Lynda Whitehorn SRH

Hair & Barber Technical Consultant

Prior to working as a hairdressing and barbering technical consultant for Qualifi, Lynda worked for the Awarding Organisation VTCT, for 10 years. She entered VTCT as a technical expert writing hairdressing and barbering qualifications, moved into Business Development and latterly worked as the National Apprenticeship Manager.

Lynda is an influential figure within the hair industry with an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of the industry, both from a commercial and education perspective. She has managed both people and projects, both large and small, from departments to individuals. She has both industry and academic qualifications but most importantly, a burning passion for the hair industry.
Stakeholder influence:

Lynda has worked extensively with the hair industry professional bodies; Hair Council (Chair 2014-16), National Hairdressing & Beauty Federation (NHBF), British Barbering Association (BBA), Great British Barbering Academy (GBBA), Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) and The Fellowship for Hairdressing. Lynda has been an integral stakeholder at the heart of Government education reform for the hair industry bringing new hair apprenticeship standards to fruition.

Lynda’s experience, knowledge, and empathy for the hair industry, has come from a lifetime of working in various roles within this industry from: apprentice to stylist, salon manager to educator, head of curriculum to qualification management, strategic planning to project management but always for the hair industry.

Francesca Manzi

Centre Support Manager

Francesca is the Centre Support Manager for centres offering the Hair, Beauty, Wellness and Aesthetics qualifications. Her role is to guide centres through the application and approval process and then support them whilst they are offering Qualifi qualifications. She will also be offering her EQA services to Qualifi.

Prior to joining Qualifi, Francesca worked with VTCT and ITEC for 9 years as a Business Development Manager. Before she joined VTCT full time, she was an EQA for them whilst also working for an FE college for many years as Curriculum Leader for Service Industries. After leaving college, Francesca ran her own beauty therapy business for several years whilst teaching part-time.

Francesca holds a variety of qualifications in Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Wellness, Teaching and Education, Management and Mentoring. She strongly believes in lifelong learning and enjoys gaining new qualifications. Francesca’s experience and qualifications mean that she will be able to give the best possible support and guidance to Qualifi centres.

Linda Wheatley

Assessment Development Advisor Qualifi - Centre Education and Training

Linda is Qualifi’s new Assessment and Centre Education and Training Advisor.
With a wealth of experience in Education and Training and Quality Assurance Linda supports new and existing Qualifi centres as the awarding organisation’s preferred Training provider for Assessor, IQA, Teacher, Training and Management qualifications. In her role she is able to assist centres who wish to further develop and add to and their Qualifi qualifications and strengthen their internal quality assurance process and practice.

Linda works as an accomplished Assessor, Advanced Teaching Practitioner, Internal and External Quality Assurer. She works with different types of organisations and providers with a clear understanding of how best to meet both individual and business needs (accompanying associated regulatory requirements).

Linda has previously worked nationally leading a team of EQAs supporting Colleges, Schools and Private training providers. For some years she has worked successfully as an Advanced Practioner training, supporting and coaching, as well as leading and managing teams from a variety of educational arenas.

Linda works hand in hand with Qualifi as a partner in her own successful business in Education and Training. Linda provides expert training and openly shares with others the high-quality service, she still believes today, is the ultimate goal for the Education and Training and Service Industries.

Lisa Secker

Qualifi Centre Education and Training Advisor

Lisa is Qualifi’s new Centre Education and Training Advisor.
With a wealth of experience in Education, Training and Quality Assurance Lisa supports new and existing Qualifi centres as the awarding organisation’s partner Training Provider for Assessor, IQA, Teacher, Training and Management qualifications.

Lisa is an experienced and accomplished Educator, Assessor, Advanced Teaching Practitioner, Internal Quality Assurer and External Quality Assurer having worked for numerous awarding organisations and training providers over more than twenty years. Lisa, in partnership runs an approved training company– Pure Learning Partnerships (PLP) which offers qualifications across the Education/Training, Management and Customer Services suite. Lisa started this company in 2009 wishing to offer bespoke Training and Consultancy Services across a variety of industries wanting to provide training that raises standards, motivates and empowers. This has become the ethos and success of PLP since.

As Qualifi’s Partner Centre Education and Training Provider, Lisa works collaboratively to promote expert training across a range of Qualifi’s portfolio of qualifications.
